We didn’t know where to start - there are so many great coffee roasters in New York and London. In London, we blind tasted around 45 different espressos (we were buzzing at the end of it) and Unions blend came out top, as it did in The Great Taste awards in 2009. Union uses only the finest grade Arabica coffees which are decaffeinated using sub cooled liquid carbon dioxide - the natural process. A rich espresso is guaranteed. No caffeine at Union Hand-Roasted does not mean no flavour. This coffee has a good body, and a low acidity. All our coffees are bought fairly, ethically and sourced from farms and co-operatives which meet internationally agreed labour standards. These are all set above the minimum standards required for Fairtrade certification.
In New York we looked at loads as well, then we met this guy call John Moore, there is nothing he doesn’t know about coffee. He’s the main man for Dallis Bros. Coffee.in New York, which is owned by Brazilian coffee grower Mr Oqercia. A 'no holds barred' 100% Arabica blend echoing the dark, sweet roasts of Southern Italy and Sicily are blended. Indonesian coffees give depth and body, while selected Central American beans are added to provide a subtle bite of acidity and balance in the cup. An intense dark roast means the blend makes for great Lattes and cappuccinos, exploding through even the longest milk-based drinks. Alone, it is a heavy bodied intense espresso experience. Both the standard and decaf coffees are Rainforest Alliance certified.
