In the last 60 years or so the world’s population has grown from around 2.5 billion people to almost 7 billion people. Goodness – how can the planet cope? We realise the huge strain the earth is under and we feel it is our responsibility to use as few resources as possible. We take this very seriously!
So what are we doing about it at Otarian?
First and foremost, Otarian loves life and the planet. That’s why we are in business.
And in order to do what we do for people and the planet, we have to stay in business.
But business for us only works if it improves quality of life and the environment at the same time.
Because we are all intertwined and part of the same circle of life.
So everything we do adds value for our customers, team members or suppliers and we do our very best to avoid any unnecessary costs.
We think paying fair prices to producers or for recycled furniture is a necessary cost even though many businesses might disagree! We don’t want anyone poor people or the planet to have to pay dearly so that we can do things cheaply.
We are willing to more for things like sustainably produced electricity and to save water because although this costs a bit more upfront, in the long term it costs us and the planet a whole lot less!
We choose the right people to work with us and look after them so that they stay with us for a long, long time – hopefully forever, and together we makes sure that we get our customer service right first time, every time!
We also do lots and lots of other things – to many to mention here. But if you are interested, you can read more in our Otarian CSR.
Because at Otarian everything we are and everything we do, business included, loves life and the planet.
