As nations around the world become richer they become unhealthier. It’s hard to believe that more than 3 out of 5 American and British adults are overweight or obese. Many suffer from related diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer. And these diseases are often because we eat poor diets that include too much meat and take-away or fast food.
So what to do? Nutritionists recommend eating a diet with more fruits and veggies, nuts and legumes, and plenty of whole grains. And eating less foods made from animals, particularly less red meat and processed meats. If you don’t believe us have a look at the World Cancer Research Fund’s advice on dietary prevention of cancer, which advises against eating more than 300 grams of red meat a week. This is less than 2 average burgers, and is where Otarian comes in. All of our food is tasty and completely vegetarian. So come and eat the rest of your meals with us.
We think that people who eat less meat are typically healthier and there are a lot of people, including nutritionists who agree with us! Research shows that vegetarians have a lower risk of overweight and obesity, some cancers, heart disease, and diabetes, and lower cholesterol and blood pressure.
At Otarian we care.
So we promise to provide affordable, delicious vegetarian food because we believe it is good for you. And because we believe it is good for the animals. And because we believe that it is good for the planet!
